My opinion: As a gift or as a treat, this set of wood chisels is my favourite! It must be said that it already has a clear advantage over its competitors with the presence of this pretty box that has only advantages, whether to store, organize and protect the tools or simply as a box for a gift. In addition, we are on Bahco, which is one of the most qualitative brands on this market and which, here, does not disappoint at all. The cutting edge is excellent, the sharpening is perfect and even if it is true that it would have been nice to have handles in a more noble material, they are still very ergonomic. So without any hesitation, I recommend them to you!

In addition to a perfectly polished surface without any imperfections, the cutting angles are also prepared: at 25°, they allow working with soft to medium hardwood. The sizes of 6, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 26 mm allow for many different projects. For a timeless look, a comfortable grip and extra strength, the knives are completed with a charming wooden handle (a leather case is included for convenient storage).
My Take: If you’re looking for professional wood chisels with undeniable classic charm, these Kirschen should please you! Not only are they made by one of the most popular brands among woodworkers and all woodworkers, but they are of remarkable quality and I honestly couldn’t fault them for anything. They are as sharp as they are strong and they are typically the kind of tools you will use for many years, especially since the ends are reinforced to withstand the blows of a mallet or hammer. It’s true that they come at a price that may seem high, but they are well worth the investment, especially since there are 6 of them, so they can be useful without necessarily having to be supplemented with other sizes.

Stanley wood chiselsThoughtful in every detail! These Stanley woodworking knives have a lot of technical details to satisfy demanding craftsmen as well as occasional handymen. For example, their handle is longer than traditional models for greater precision in handling and they even have a metal reinforcement to allow the use of a hammer when striking without risking damage. The 5 pieces also benefit from high-quality steel blades (EN31), which adds to their performance and longevity, especially since they are pre-sharpened for optimal sharpness. They come in sizes ranging from 6 to 25 mm and are accompanied by ergonomic handles in two materials with a soft, honeycombed coating that offers comfort and a secure grip.
My opinion: Stanley is also a leading brand in the chisel market and among all the sets and models they offer, this is one of the best value for money. These 5 tools live up to its reputation and I find them perfectly suited for any DIY or carving job. While you may need to resharpen them before using them (it is usually possible to improve their sharpness), they are on the other hand very reliable and I also find them a pleasure to handle with their finger-friendly handles. In terms of sturdiness, I have nothing to reproach either, the sizes are well distributed and the fact that a storage case is included is an undeniable plus to protect them between two uses. You can really choose them with confidence!

My opinion: It’s hard to beat the incredible sharpness of Japanese blades! If Japanese wood chisels have had no trouble making a place for themselves in this market, it’s because the tools offered are generally quite amazing, with perfect sharpness and directly offering a real pleasure to be used. In this category, these Shintaro are the ones I recommend because they tick all the boxes. Their manufacture is irreproachable (even the protection at the end of the handle to hit them without fear) and it is also difficult to resist their authentic design which perfectly combines beautiful materials. They are a bit more expensive than the classic models but they are so convincing that you won’t regret having let yourself be tempted!

While it’s true that the tools aren’t as sharp as other, better-known brands, so you have to spend a little time getting them in shape, having everything available is a plus. Most importantly, I found the blades to be sturdy enough for DIY or craft work and the handle offered a good grip. So if you don’t have a stretchy budget or know you won’t be using these accessories too often, this is still a good choice.
